Six editors have made the shortlist: Lorraine Candy, editor-in-chief at Elle; Gillian Carter, editorial director at Good Food; Sue James, editorial director at Woman&Home; John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief at the Economist; Michelle Pamment, editor at M&S magazine; and Morgan Rees, editorial director for Men's Health, who won the 2009 Editors' Editor of the Year prize.
BSME will announce the shortlists for its other prize categories later this month. This year's awards include a new category recognising sport, leisure and health journalism.
The winners will be named on 9 November.
