IPC Media has announced the promotion of Paul Cheal to digital publishing director

Cheal currently works as publishing director for titles NME, NME.com and Uncut.
According to a release from IPC Media, Cheal will take up the new position in late autumn.
"Paul's initial key responsibility will be to lead IPC's editorial and publishing teams in the ongoing development of IPC brands across new devices and platforms, with particular emphasis on tablet growth," the company said.
Cheal joined IPC Media more than a decade ago as associate publisher of IPC Inspire's Outdoor and Hobbies Group. He has since been publishing director of IPC's Motoring and Marine titles and most recently NME, NME.com and Uncut.
According to the company, he led NME's multimedia development, overseeing the launches of NMETV and NME Radio.
"I'm delighted to appoint someone of Paul's talent and experience to this pivotal role," Neil Robinson, IPC's digital director, said in the release.
"His proven understanding of digital publishing, allied to his experience of developing strategies in emerging platforms, are skills that we can now bring to bear across all of our publishing divisions."
