Van der Luijt started his journalism career in his native Holland as a reporter and editor in the local media.
He went on to join the Dutch State Publishers working on an early online information system for local authorities.
After relocating to Britain in 1995, Van der Luijt spearheaded the launch and development of the secretarial portal DeskDemon.com, before joining Atalink in July 2007 as editor of the Director of Finance Online and SME Web sites.
Van der Luijt told Journalism.co.uk he was looking at a number of options with blue chip companies in the financial sector, but will be taking a short break before he resumes employment.
His successor at Atalink will be Gary Howes.
