Fantasy Football stars David Baddiel and Frank Skinner will be the "unofficial voice" of the 2006 World Cup, producing 10 podcasts from games in Germany during the month-long event. The pair will also contribute to other online coverage during the tournament.
"I see Dave and me as two, on-the-spot comedy-reporters, sending home the whole World Cup experience in regular podcast-sized packages," said Frank Skinner.
"I'm really looking forward to it; especially the 'We-just-won-the-World-Cup Special'."
Guardian Unlimited introduced a series of Ricky Gervais podcasts in December 2005 which proved extremely popular; the first show was downloaded 180,000 times in its first week and went on to enter the Guinness Book of Records as the most downloaded podcast ever.
