Erik Bjerager
The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers has named Danish newspaper managing director Erik Bjerager as its new president.

WAN-IFRA announced today that Bjerager, who is editor-in-chief and managing director of national Danish daily Kristeligt Dagblad, was elected by the WEF board for a two-year mandate as president of the global association for senior newsroom executives.

Bjerager, who has been a member of the WEF board since 2001, will succeed Xavier Vidal-Folch, deputy director of Spain's El Pais, who served as WEF president since 2008.
