A group of students from CUNY Graduate School of Journalism worked on an interactive to better present the realities of living as a Syrian refugee resettled in the United States.

In this article on MediaShift, the team outlines the process they went through to create the interactive, highlighting that part of the documentation for the experience was similar to that for a traditional news story, and involved a lot of time spent gathering facts.

One key piece of advice states that creators should be ambitious but keep the project simple and easy to understand by the user, as well as short – they advise the entire interactive should not take more than three minutes to complete.
