The winners were among 728 entries from 10 countries, and the awards were administered by the Online News Association (ONA) and the Colombia Graduate School of Journalism.
Bruce Koon, president of the ONA, said: "We know the digital medium continues to grow as a news source for the public and therefore we anticipated many quality entries, but the depth and diversity was even more outstanding than expected."
Meanwhile, the Associated Press Managing Editors Association (APME) has announced its own Online Convergence Awards, which will recognise "the best examples of stories that combine print and online resources".
APME, which represents 1,500 editors across the US and Canada, also plans to offer new convergence training workshops.
