Fahnrenheit 911 examines the actions of George W Bush's administration following the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001. The documentary was awarded the prestigious Palme D'Or for best picture at Cannes Film Festival 2004.
Web intelligence firm Hitwise reports that MichaelMoore.com's UK market share of visits has increased 148 per cent since 12 June. The site was also the seventh most visited political website among UK web users and 'Michael Moore' was the sixth most popular political search term.
Many visitors clicked through to watch the film's trailer on sister site Fahrenheit 911.com.
In the US, the site's market share increased by 343 per cent in the two weeks before the film's release on 25 June.
MichaelMoore.com was recently redesigned and will soon feature a blog written by Mr Moore.
