There's no doubt Twitter is a helpful resource for journalists, and can be used in various ways from finding new leads to sharing stories or connecting with new people.

But with the 140 character limit and the whole world watching, coming up with the perfect tweet every time is not an easy task.

In this BBC Academy Q&A, Mark Frankel, assistant editor, social news, shares some of his tips for journalists using Twitter.

Frankel, who is in charge of many BBC Twitter accounts, gives his take on the tone, length, and the ingredients of a successful tweet.
