Adrian Higgins, former web editor of Page3.com, has joined the UK's largest motoring website Autor Trader Digital.

His new role will involve establishing the site as the essential site for motoring news and reviews on new and used cars.

Jim Murray-Jones, head of digital at the Trader Media Group, said: "We are delighted to have Adrian on board in this role. His wealth of experience working with blue-chip websites and within the news and features writing environment will bring huge benefits to the group."

Mr Higgins started his career in print media at the North Devon Journal and later moved to News International, joining the new media division in 1999 when he was appointed features editor on bun.com.

Most recently he was web editor on Page3.com, where he helped to develop the print media brand and launch various online products. "I also conceived and created 3Zine, the website's pioneering online magazine," he told journalism.co.uk.

He studied history and literature at the University of Essex, and later went on to complete the NCTJ post-graduate pre-entry course at Cardiff Institute and attain his NCE.

His advice to journalists wanting to work on a top online title and become a web editor is: "Become a good journalist, develop an understanding of the commercial side of editorial and prepare to multi-task."
