He will be charged with leading the group's acquisition drive and development of its portfolio of standalone media businesses.
Mr Revell has more than 25 years' experience in the sector, formerly with eight years in senior roles at Australian news publisher Fairfax where he led integration of newsrooms and video services. He also worked at News Corp and on other national and regional newspapers.
He will report to managing director Andy Hart.
