Mr Bogler joined the FT in 1995 as a Lex columnist based in London and then in New York.
He also worked as speechwriter for the president of Goldman Sachs in New York during 2001 and rejoined the FT as financial editor for the German edition.
"Dan Bogler will be an excellent managing editor," said Lionel Barber, Financial Times editor.
"His knowledge of our editorial operations in Asia, Europe and the US and the breadth of his reporting experience make him a natural choice for the managing editor role."
