Pullitzer prize-winner Professor Steve Doig will be sharing the secrets of his investigative journalism successes at a seminar held at the European Journalism Centre in Maastricht next week (14-16 March 2001).
Professor Doig is a former research editor at the Miami Herald and now teaches journalism at Arizona State University. Using CAR he has carried out major investigations into crime, political intrigues, natural disasters and immigration policies.
He says anyone smart enough to be a reporter can quickly learn CAR techniques. He has trained hundreds of journalists to use internet tools, spreadsheets, database programmes, statistics and mapping software to do in-depth stories on a wide range of subjects.
