The appointment is part of the technology publisher's strategy to develop a more converged print and online publishing business.
His new role involves overseeing publication of the group's print titles, supplements, ebooks and websites.
"Making print and websites work together is the biggest challenge for anyone in journalism at the moment," he told journalism.co.uk.
He would advise aspiring journalists to try starting out on trade titles.
"The world of journalism doesn't start and end with consumer titles and newspapers. You can often get broader experience and more responsibility on a B2B title."
Mr Wild had been editor of VNU's Accountancy Age title since 2000, and has also worked for CNN, South China Morning Post and Public Finance. He graduated in business studies from the former Birmingham Polytechnic.
