AOP 2006 forum to focus on podcasting

AOP 2006 forum to focus on podcasting Podcasting will be under the spotlight for the AOP's first industry forum of 2006.

The Telegraph's recently appointed podcast editor Guy Ruddle and New Scientist's online manager John MacFarlane will speak at the session, discussing how to monetise the format and how publishers can incorporate podcast content into their sites.

"Podcasting was named word of the year by the New Oxford American Dictionary, so that's an obvious contender for the next big thing in 2006," said Alexandra White, director of the AOP.

Looking forward to 2006, Ms White said that the AOP will be conducting further research into the 'online elite' audience - a valuable target audience for online advertisers.

She predicts that 2006 will be a rewarding year for publishers that have embraced the medium of the web and invested in their web titles.

"Perhaps mobile and broadband were the two big tipping points in 2005. In 2006 it will be about the convergence of the two, with a helping of user-generated content thrown in. And there will be a lot of focus on how to make money from them!"

The forum will be £20 for AOP members and £40 for non-members.
